I have experience of both public and
private sectors. I started my career in the Ministry of
Defence before moving to the private sector. I have worked
at a senior management level (top 5%) in a large blue chip
(turnover >£1bn), a start-up to sale of a Technical
Consultancy and was then head-hunted into a large
international SME (turnover >£60m). I have over 16 years
experience as a registered Company Director and have
considerable international experience too having been a
"frequent flyer" and have lived in the US, Geneva and
Brussels.
In January 2005 I set up my own
Management Consultancy and have worked for many of my
clients now for more than 12 months.
The Institute of Independent Business (IIB)
I became an Accredited Associate of the
Institute for Independent Business in January 2005. The IIB
is the largest organisation of its type with over 3500
highly skilled Executive Associates having been accredited,
working with many thousands of businesses mostly within the
Small to Medium size Enterprise (SME) sector in more than 20
countries across the world.
Unlike large organisations and
corporations, SMEs generally lack the resources to build a
management team of professionals experienced across a range
of business critical disciplines. In fact, the burden of
maintaining and growing a successful independent business is
generally limited to a very small number of owner directors
/ partners. Sometimes this falls on just one person. With so
much to do and with limited resources, many feel frustrated
at the ever-increasing demands being placed upon them.
